there are three types of corrugated box size: external size, manufacturing size and internal size. These three forms are composed of the length, width and height of the carton. For this reason, the specific description of the measures on material solutions can be divided into external width and height, internal length and width and height, and manufacturing length, width and height. The external dimension refers to the volume measured from the outside of the corrugated box, which is generally used as the basis for calculating the freight and the mark on the outside of the box. The internal dimension refers to the surface to surface distance measured from the inside of the corrugated box after it is supported and formed. The internal dimension is determined according to the volume of the contents. Generally, the internal dimension is slightly larger than the volume of the contents. The manufacturing dimension refers to the production process dimension converted according to the inner dimension of the carton. Generally, the production operation is carried out by placing orders and adjusting the pressing line according to the manufacturing dimension

there is another comprehensive dimension in the national standard. The comprehensive dimension of the carton is the sum of the length, width and height of the internal dimension of the carton. Among the above three sizes, the manufacturing size is relatively flexible, which changes at any time according to the thickness of different corrugated boards, different line pressing and forming equipment and different forming processes. Therefore, mastering the manufacturing size is the first step to control the size of cartons. The same is true for special-shaped cartons. No matter how many layers of corrugated cardboard there are, the external dimension of the carton is the internal dimension plus the total thickness of these corrugated cardboard

scientific design is the prevention needle

to design the size of corrugated box, the internal size should be designed first. Because the internal dimension is easy to determine, it is determined by the external dimension of the physical measurement or physical combination and arrangement calculation of the internal goods. The discharge of internal contents shall save space as much as possible, and the supporting force shall be reasonably considered. From the point of view of mechanics, if the contents share a part of the branch support force, the requirements for the compressive index of the box with good breakpoint of the paper sample can be appropriately reduced. Therefore, it means the reduction of costs and the acquisition of profits. If the contents are cartons, consider the direction of the strands of the cartons, because the longitudinal strands have better support than the transverse strands

during the forming process of the corrugated box, the corrugated board shall be pressed to make the corrugated board bend well. At the same time, the pressing will damage the structure of the corrugated board and make the inner paper shrink and the face paper extend. Its expansion and contraction is directly related to the thickness of paperboard and the way of pressing lines. The thicker the paperboard, the greater the expansion value, the wider the pressing line, and the greater the expansion value. However, whether the corrugated box is formed by two-wire, three wire or five wire pressing method, the protruding part of the bottom line of the pressing wheel will squeeze the pressure part of the corrugated board into the center of the corrugated board. Therefore, the inner dimension of the corrugated box is slightly shorter than the distance between the line and the pressing line when the corrugated box is unfolded. In this way, the shortened part of the size should be added as the correction value, which is closely related to the thickness of the corrugated board

in order to protect the contents of the most common cartons, the outer swing covers are usually butt sealed. This requires that the size of the flap of the carton must be calculated accurately, and there should be no gap after docking, nor can the flap be superimposed. In principle, the theoretical value of the manufacturing dimension of the swing cover width should be half of the manufacturing dimension of the box width. However, the FC 780 e Speedmaster thermoforming machine can just solve the problem of punching force difference. Since the inner and outer swing covers are on the same pressing line, the inner swing cover will have a supporting effect on the outer swing cover after folding, and the outer swing cover will inevitably have a certain gap at the butt joint. Therefore, it is very important to calculate the correction value of the manufacturing dimension of the swing cover width. This correction value is generally half of the thickness of the pressboard, but the expansion and contraction of the paperboard surface and lining caused by different pressboard equipment are different, so it is best to determine it through actual measurement
